Recently in Vancouver there were some 911 calls received about two children left in a car.
Police, firemen and ambulances were called. It turned out the mother left her children in Lexus for 20 minutes and went to the grocery store.
A police officer who came to the place was so furious with what she did that he started to scold her.
The video of this scene was posted to Facebook on Thursday by a spectator. On this video, the police officer tells the mother off passionately.
Also we can hear as he asks her «what kind of mother is she» to live two little kids in a hot car for 20 minutes. He says that she doesn’t even understand the danger of her act, that because of the heat in the car her children could have died.
He said: "Listen to me. You’re talking when you should be listening. Your children could have died. The windows were up, it’s hot out."
"Don’t argue with me. Do you want me to take your children and you’ll never see them again?"
The video created a stir on social media. A police chief Palmer confirmed the incident took place. He tried to defend the police officer as he’s ‘a respectable member of the police department’ and a 'hard-working, dedicated officer'.
Palmer also said he’s sure that the officer’s behavior caused by the fact he has children too.
"We’re all people and we may sometimes react not quite right to some circumstances. He just tried to explain the mother that she endangered her own children."
By the way, the temperature that day in Vancouver was around 20 which is not high temperature. But let us remember that the children were in the car where the temperature can reach up to 50 degrees Celsius in 20 minutes in the summer sun.
Generally, every year 37 children die from heatstroke caused by being
left in a hot car in the US.
Only in 2017 there were 18 such incidents.
